Rotary (Club Rotario de La Bahia de La Paz)

Rotary has 34,000 clubs around the world and works in 8 languages. We are neighbors, community leaders, and global citizens uniting for the common good. Our local Club Rotario de La Bahia de La Paz is a group of 26 people; 12 women,14 men and open to all at any time to any meeting or project.

This young man is an A student.
His Mom works 70 hrs a week. School
started two weeks before and he had
no uniform. We heard and fixed it.

This grandmother's daughter and
husband vanished. These two
grandchildren she has worked so hard
with will have a life she could not.

Our latest finished project was delivering 1,204 water filters and 5 gallon insulated tanks to remote ranchitos and schools. The filters take out all bacteria and cysts from water. The filters and tanks are going to the 47 remote CONAFE one room school houses, 18 Alburges (7-12 grade remote schools where the kids live Monday thru Friday) and ALL the  ranchitos in BCS.

Our club is also very involved in building the small rural one-room schoolhouses for CONAFE. In 2018 we started one at La Esperanza and Azteca. The teachers at these schools are paying back their college educations.

The major project for 2019 is obtaining enough money to send poor students from the 6th to 7th grade middle school. The students must qualify by getting a 70% or better in all subjects, but still need about 300 USD to buy uniforms shoes and books.

The difference in going and not going is black and white. Those who can finish middle school can get normal jobs anywhere, all of which come with full health care for you and your family in three days of working there. In many cases in 3 years a down payment for a house you can afford.

the principal of the primary school in
Villa Guadalupe who recommended him.

The students who can’t go due to lack of funds, end up with a baby in her arms age 13-15 and a shovel in his hands hoping to scratch out a living. Our club vets each student, meets them, get sizes and buys the uniforms and shoes and delivers them in front of the principal of the school, with photos.

Past projects include providing computers to school children, working with the orphanage, and providing gift bags for many children at Christmas every year.

92.3 % of all monies coming into Rotary go to a project cost. All Jobs from the international director to local floor sweepers are for one year only with no pay. Men and women are equal, no religion or politics can be talked about.
Joining is simple, come to the free meetings and see what you think. Call Bob Walker at 612 104 2072 or email  svcactus@gmail.com  for specifics.

Club Members Support Christmas for Kids

Club Rotario Bahía de La Paz, through the generosity of many cruising friends in the fleet, made Christmas happen for 50 ranchero kids, primarily in the rural community of La Soledad near San Evaristo.
Cruisers, many members of the Club, have been supporting this gift-giving event for over 10 years. This year lots of the kids got bikes and their smiles were big. Muchísimas gracias, Club Cruceros. Here are some photos...

And here for the 2016 "Letters to Santa" with the kids in La Soledad.

From the La Paz Rotary, December 2014:

La Soledad is the albergue or rural school north of La Paz. Nuevo Creacion is the shelter outside of town for kids whose parents are in jail on drug charges. Club Rotario Bahia de La Paz supports both of these with Christmas gifts. Both of these charities have been heavily supported by Club Cruceros this past month. Hooray for the cruising community in La Paz! This is a group with a big heart. Thanks to all from Rotary Bahia de La Paz. Prospero ano nuevo! Click here to see more photos!
